Well, Hi There Horror Movie Fans!

Welcome to the official site for the forthcoming documentary, Hi There Horror Movie Fans!  a film about Virginia horror host legend, The Bowman Body, a.k.a. Bill Bowman. 

WHAT ABOUT THIS DOCUMENTARY? This film is a full length feature documentary about the history of the Bowman Body character which appeared on three different channels over nearly 20 years.  A lifetime in broadcasting yielded dozens of hilarious stories captured in this film, from Bowman's hearse misdirecting a funeral for 20 miles, to naked coeds appearing at his door, to the Hell's Angels seeking autographs. But it also explores the impact Bowman had on the community and the meaning of local television in a different time.

The DVD contains the full length feature documentary plus scenes cut from the film including extra clips from Bowman's WVIR show, "Cobweb Theatre."  Also includes the trailer and the trailer for VIRGINIA CREEPERS: THE HORROR HOST TRADITION OF THE OLD DOMINION.

WHO IS THE BOWMAN BODY?  

What? Are you kidding?  Well, in the event that you are a little shaky on your major figures in American history . . . Bill Bowman hosted horror movies on three different channels across the state of Virginia beginning in 1970 on WXEX's Shock Theatre in Petersburg, Virginia.  He had a long and distinguished career in broadcasting and was recognized by state legislature for his contributions.

NEWS:

October 23:  Bowman Body 1975 Reproduction T-shirts sales CLOSED.

October 7:  Bowman Body 1975 Reproduction T-shirts underway.  Pre order here.

October 1:  DVDs available!  Screening at Monsterfest 2011.

September 24:  Premiered at the Byrd Theater!  More than 300 people came to the premiere and had a great time!  Thanks to everyone involved.

September 19:  DVD master is prepared.  DVD should be available on or near Oct. 1, 2011.  The DVD will contain the complete film, 2 trailers and about 15 minutes of extra scenes that were cut from the film.

August 20:   PREMIERE ANNOUNCED:  The premiere screening of HI THERE HORROR MOVIE FANS:  THE BOWMAN BODY DOCUMENTARY will be at the Byrd Theater in Richmond on Sat. Sept. 24.

August 20:  Official trailer was recut and added at YouTube along with a recovered audio interview with the Bowman Body that is pretty cool but just wont make the film. Check out the TV page for more.

June 28:  Taping for the film wraps up.
